HEICO Group once again certified in the area of sustainability
The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly important, and buzzwords such as ESG are no longer unknown. The HEICO Group, a manufacturer of threadlocking systems based in Westphalia, recognised this early on and aligned its processes accordingly. In addition to the successful ISO 50001 certification in 2015 and the ISO 14001 certification, Managing Directors Jan-Bernd Heimann and Franz-Martin Köhler, together with Sustainability Officer Fabian Wermelt, have now received the EcoZert award from Reinhard Goldmann (Creditreform) - another important step in the implementation of long-term sustainability goals.
The certification serves as a reliable indicator for companies that are committed to responsible growth. At HEICO, this has not just recently become an issue. One of the many projects that the energy team, led by Managing Director Franz-Martin Köhler, has been pursuing with great commitment since 2014 is the expansion of the PV system, which has been in operation since 2021, to a total of 1200 kWp.
The HEICO Group has now also received EcoZert certification for outstanding sustainability measures, enabling it to communicate its measures even more transparently. As part of the certification process, the three key areas of ESG have been evaluated in particular:
Environmental practices (Environmental): The focus is on sustainable resource management, CO₂ reduction, energy efficiency and measures to protect biodiversity. Companies must prove that their processes and products are designed to be environmentally friendly and that they actively contribute to combating climate change.
Social responsibility (Social): This category examines how companies promote social justice, including occupational safety, fair working conditions and equal opportunities. Special consideration is given to occupational safety measures and the creation of training opportunities for employees. These aspects contribute to long-term employee satisfaction and sustainable economic growth.
Corporate governance: Sustainable corporate governance includes transparent and ethical business practices, corruption prevention and responsible risk management. The certification verifies whether companies promote fair and inclusive decision-making processes and take the interests of their employees into account.
A strong impetus for the sustainable economy
Certification is not only intended to be an indicator for minimising a company's ecological footprint, but also to strengthen its social responsibility and management practices. Companies that pass the audit have the opportunity to position themselves as sustainable market leaders. This not only strengthens the trust of their customers, but also the commitment of their employees.
Over the course of its almost 125-year history, the family-run company has become an industry leader in the manufacture of drawing-based cold forged parts, threadlockers and tensioning systems. However, such a success story also brings implies a great responsibility, as owner Jan-Bernd Heimann confirms: ‘This new certification sends out a clear signal: Sustainable business is not only a moral imperative, but also an important competitive advantage in an increasingly demanding business world.’ Fabian Wermelt, who made a significant contribution to the development and implementation of the sustainability strategy, adds: ‘With the EcoZert award, we have further proof that our efforts in recent years have been successful. At the same time, we must now stay focussed in order to continue to operate responsibly and sustainably in the future.’
