Tension Bolts and Compact Tension Nuts complement the HEICO-TEC^® product line

HEICO-TEC^® tensioning elements are used wherever bolted connections reach larger dimensions that make simple pretensioning difficult or even impossible. In bolted joints greater than M24 (> 1"), it is difficult for an operator to achieve an accurate preload, so they often resort to hydraulic or pneumatic tools - a very time-consuming and expensive solution.

The same functional principle applies to the new HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolts as with the HEICO-TEC^® Tension Nuts, where the pretensioning force of the large main thread is distributed over several smaller pressure bolts. Instead of tightening a large nut or bolt with high torque, when using the HEICO-TEC^® Tensioning Systems, much smaller pressure bolts are tightened in order to achieve the same pretensioning force - and all that is needed is a hand-held torque wrench. HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolts, which expands the HEICO-TEC^® Tensioning Systems product line, are specifically designed for confined space applications. Compared to a conventional stud + (tension) nut design, the smaller outside diameter and total head height of the one-piece HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolt provides a critical advantage compared to a conventional hex head or tension nut. As an additional advantage, the operator has to handle and install just a single part (instead of a stud + nut). Like with the HEICO-TEC^® Tension Nut, the HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolt creates torsion-free preload in the main bolt. Wherever technicians face tight installation spaces or require a single, easy-to-install tensioning device, HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolts provide the best solution.

Our HEICO-TEC^® Tension Bolts in strength class 8.8 (grade CH in inch sizes) can directly replace same-strength conventional bolts in the dimension range of M20-M100 (1" - 4"). We can also offer custom designs in higher strength classes, different materials, or other specific needs.

The newly introduced HEICO-TEC^® Compact Series aptly offers the advantage of compactness. In contrast to the HEICO-TEC^® Tension Nuts of strength class 8 and 10 (grades BH, CH, DH in inch sizes), the HEICO-TEC^® Compact Series uses high-strength set screws. The total height of the Tension Nut combines the height of the nut body and washer; the set screws do not protrude from the nut body, resulting in a significantly more compact design.

The standard size range for the HEICO-TEC^® Compact Series is M20 - M160 (1" - 5"). We offer these in uncoated and zinc-flake coated versions - other dimensions, coating systems or materials are available on request.
